DEI Standard Index® | The Scientific Framework for Measuring DEI | Be(in) Mindset
DEI Standard Index®

A rigorous standard. Unified under a mathematical model.

Developed in collaboration with researchers from the University of Barcelona, the DEI Standard Index® is a unified scientific framework that translates culture, policies, and corporate governance into standardized and auditable numerical indicators.

A model designed to measure diversity, equity, and inclusion management using consistent criteria aligned with international sustainability frameworks, such as ISO, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and ESG criteria.

The model’s architecture

5 management levers. 16 dimensions of diversity.

The DEI Standard Index® assesses an organization’s maturity across four major business areas: Diversity Management, Talent and Human Resources, Strategy and Corporate Governance, and Communication and Stakeholder Relations.

To do so, it connects five fundamental levers that allow for an analysis not only of what an organization declares, but also how it implements those commitments and what its people experience.

01

Policies

Commitments, guidelines, and corporate policies that establish the organization’s framework for action regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion.

02

Plans

Assesses how commitments are translated into objectives, action plans, responsibilities, and resources allocated for their implementation.

03

Processes

Integration of DEI criteria into operational procedures, particularly in talent management, recruitment, development, and career advancement.

04

Practices

Day-to-day application of policies and processes, identifying how commitments are realized in management and leadership decisions.

05

People

Employee experiences to understand what they know, how they perceive the implementation of these policies, and what situations they encounter in their work environment.

Talent and Human Resources
Strategy and Corporate Governance
Communication and Stakeholder Relations

16 dimensions of diversity help you understand your organization’s reality.

The model includes 16 categories of diversity which allow for a deeper understanding of the workforce’s composition and an analysis of how different personal and social characteristics relate to work experiences.

The dimensions cover:

  • Gender
    SexGender identityGender expressionSexual orientation
  • Generational
  • Functional diversity / Disability
  • Nationality / Origin
  • Ethnic-racial / Appearance
  • Beliefs and ideology
  • Appearance / Lifestyle
  • Language
  • Parental status and caregiver status
  • Educational and socioeconomic background

Through anonymized, aggregate, and intersectional analyses, the model facilitates identifying differences, barriers, and opportunities for improvement across groups.

Three proprietary indices

Structured indicators for making decisions based on data, not intuition.

The DEI Standard Index® transforms complex information into metrics that enable an understanding of management maturity, an assessment of employee experiences, and the identification of gaps and risks requiring attention.

68

Knowledge and Perceptual Alignment Gap Index

IGCAP

Measures the gap between the organization’s stated management practices and employees’ knowledge or perceptions.

It helps identify policies and actions that do not reach the workforce, differences in perception, and areas where management practices and employee experience are not sufficiently aligned.

76

Sense of Belonging and Psychological Safety Index

ICPS

It synthesizes indicators related to employees’ sense of belonging, inclusion, and psychological safety in their work environment.

It helps detect signs of vulnerability, differences among groups, and situations that may affect well-being, engagement, and the work experience.

71

Perceived Equity of Opportunity Index

IEPO

Measures the proportion of employees who perceive equity in the processes of access, selection, promotion, and professional development.

It enables the identification of differences among groups and the detection of potential barriers to the perception of equal opportunity within the organization.

Illustrative numerical values, not actual results.

Three complementary perspectives. An integrated view to guide decisions.
